Analysing narratives as practicesGeorgetown University, USA, definaa{at}georgetown.edu
King's College London, UK, alexandra.georgakopoulou{at}kcl.ac.uk Departing from a critique of the conventional paradigm of narrative analysis, inspired by Labov and the narrative turn in social sciences, we propose an alternative framework, recommending combining a focus on the local occasioning of narratives in interaction with the analysis of their participation in a variety of macro-processes, through mobilizing the notions of social practice, genre and community of practice.
Key Words: community of practice genre narrative analysis small stories social practice
